Baking bread at a Northumberland Fusileers field bakery in 1900. Formed 1674 as one of three 'English' units in the Dutch Anglo-Scots Brigade. In 1751, it became the 5th Regiment of Foot. 1782 was given the regional title 'Northumberland' appendage. 1836 became the 5th (Northumberland Fusiliers) Regiment of Foot. 1881 it was titled title Northumberland Fusiliers. Royal Northumberland Fusiliers was its name on 3 June 1935. 1968, it was amalgamated with the Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment), Royal Warwickshire Fusiliers and Lancashire Fusiliers to form the present Royal Regiment.
