Alderman and last Master has done for the Com-pany, being a worthy Benefactor to the same, Doth thereforethink fit to Order and the whole Court or any three of them aredesired to meet at four of the clock this afternoon to desire thefavour of the said Alderman Ward that he would be pleased tosit to have his picture drawn at the charge of the Company, tobe placed amongst the pictures of the worthy Benefactors of thisSociety. In the Masters Accounts for 1672-3 appears the followingentry: 80. Item to Mr. Robert Mallory1 for Alderman Wardspicture frame and painting in Popes Head Alley,£7 17s. {^^: When Ward became Lord Mayor be evidently did not con-sider this portrait to be worthy of his dignity, for he substitutedanother for it, as appears by the following Order of the Courtmade on April 8, 1681: Ordered that the Lord Mayors picturein the Hall which is half-length be sent to his Lordship with thethanks of this Court for his Lordships picture at length now inthe Hall which he hath given to this Company. At a Court held on March 7, 1687, Inquiry being this daymade after Sir Patience Awards picture, a worthy member andbenefactor of this Society, and this Court having informationthat the same was sent to Mr. J. Ward, brother of Sir Patience,by some former member of this Society, It is this day orderedthat the Clerk of the Company do wait on
