Woman of Saint Valery. She wears a bonnet of card covered in silk fabric, except for the top part. She stands beside a full barrel, and behind her two people are carrying another barrel of water. Hand-colored fashion plate illustration by Lante engraved by Gatine from Louis-Marie Lante's "Costumes des femmes du Pays de Caux," 1827/1885. With their tall Alsation lace hats, the women of Caux and Normandy were famous for the elegance and style.
