Pagophilus Grcenlandicus. Harp Seal. Grey or w hitish, with large and small black spots; hairs of the beard waved on the edges ; cutting teeth diminish in size ; the grinders separated, straight; edge of the mouth oblique. Length 4 to 5 feet. Until six or seven weeks old white, called White Coats at Newfoundland; at one year old they have small spots; at two years old they have large spots, and the males are called Bed Lampiers; at three years old the males and females have the harp-shape band.—Jukes, I. c.
