Canopic jar with head of jackal (Duamutef) ca. 800–650 BC Third Intermediate Period This canopic is part of a set (–.4) found in a Ptolemaic cemetery at Thebes. Use of canopics had gone out of fashion at that period, however, so these are certainly reused. Their style suggests they were originally created in the late Third Intermediate Canopic jar with head of jackal (Duamutef). ca. 800–650 BC. Limestone. Third Intermediate Period.
