Thames Water have been discharging storm water including sewage from the nearby Thames Water Sewage Treatment Works in Windsor as well as numerous points along the Thames. Boat crews racing in the Oxford v Cambridge race this week have been taken ill. One rower on the Oxford team which lost the Boat Race on Saturday has complained about "poo in the water" and claimed that sickness caused by an outbreak of E. coli played a part in their defeat.
