French author Alexandre Dumas wrote The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo.


Alexandre Dumas (1802-1870) was a French author. His father was born on the French colony island of Saint-Dominique (present-day Haiti) of a French nobleman and an enslaved woman, who was of African descent and may even have been born in Africa. His father brought him back to France, where he was educated. Among the many historical adventure novels that he wrote are The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo.
