Statue of Scottish writer and poet James Hogg. Located on the roadside near next to St Marys Loch. Scottish Borders, Scotland


The statue was unveiled in 1860. James Hogg was a poet and novelist in the late seventeenth and early nineteenth century. He who wrote in both English and Scots gaelic languages, Also known as the 'Ettrick Shepherd' because he lived and worked on the family farm in Ettrick nearby. In his time he became a well known in literary circles in Edinburgh and a friend of Sir Walter Scott.
