The machine was adjusted to cut as low aspossible, the purpose being to cut as close to the ground as a cow couldbite off the blades of grass. A lawn mower, thus adjusted was theclosest imitation of a cow eating grass that we could get. Plots 1, 3 and 5 were cut every week, while plots 2, 4 and 6 werecut every two weeks.
