The Black-eared Wheatear is a small robin sized member of the thrush family. It is common and widespread in dry rocky areas throughout the mediterranean region. It occurs in several races which vary mainly in the paleness of their plumage. The palest birds occurring in the eastern Mediterranean. This bird is of the black-throated type which is nearly as common as the typical form in some parts of Lesvos.
