About six weeks ago the ship Maasdam was burned on her way to New York. The passengers and « crew were fortunately saved, but lost all their worldly possessions. One of the passengers on board was ^ Mr. John Dale, a druggist, from Plymouth, England, who had just sold his store there, and intended to ^ commence business here; he has a wife and family to support, and has been rendered utterly destitute g by the burning of the ship.
