Abu Simbel, the rock cut Temple of RamesesII with the four statues of himself on the outside and a gallery of treasures inside.


Egypt, Abu-Simbel. The facade of the greater of two temples at Abu-Simbel show four statues of Rameses II sitting on his throne, (there were six). They are 20metres high. They were removed during the 1960s because the waters of The Nile were raised for the Nasser Lake. At a cost of 80million $ to UNICEF who declared it to be a World Heritage Site.
