According to a recent report by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), countries have the potential to reduce plastic pollution by 80% by 2040 by eliminating unnecessary plastics, implementing recycling and reuse strategies, introducing deposit return schemes, and substituting plastic with sustainable alternative materials.
