Gemini North Telescope at night

Gemini North telescope, Mauna Kea, Hawai'i. To the lower left of Gemini is a red glowing light source. This is from the eruption of the Halema'uma'u crater of the Kilauea volcano, ongoing since late September 2021. Further lower left of Gemini is the faint green light of the town of Hilo, Hawai'i. Although the city causes light pollution, the telescope is shielded from it by a thick layer of cloud.
