May 2019 Burren Junction, Australia: A Whitewood tree and a few small salt bush shrubs are the only surviving growth in a dry, drought ravaged paddock

While this may look like 'over grazing', this property is actually being carefully managed by owners with multi generational experience. The sheep have water and are well fed and with rain this paddock will quickly green up. Grain is delivered every second day from a trailer mounted hopper into long narrow steel trays laid out in the paddock followed later in the day by a load of hay. Just days after this shot was taken the area received a fall of just 20 mm (3/4 of an inch) of rain. Having received little else in the preceding months it was certainly welcome but only enough to settle the dust for a few days.
