Brian Quinonez, representing the 224th Sustainment Brigade, led the way from the start of the 2013 California Army National Guard’s Best Warrior Competition’s Unknown Distance Ruck March event, Sept. 11, 2012, at Camp San Luis Obispo. The distance will be revealed later. The troops enjoyed a low hanging fog and chilly temperatures to keep them cool until the final portion when the sun began to burn through. Each ruck was weighed at the beginning for a minimum amount and again at the end. Some carried just water and others had special snacks to keep the fuel burning.
