Stone, who has been employed onthe West Iowa division for several years as has never had any experience whatever as a loco-motive engineer, and has acknowledged that he knewnothing of running an engine. L. H. Stroud, anotherconductor, has been pulling passenger trains, neverhaving had any experience as an engineer. GeorgeLoughridge, C. A. Drake, Dempsey Ethridge, DickAllen, John Erbert, Dan Hackett, and William Patten,all conductors of the Burlington, have been pullingpassenger trains, and all of them have admitted thatthey know nothing of running a locomotive, and theyare not reliable or efficient engineers. Mike Johnson,in charge of a passenger engine, was a bar tender atOttumwa, and his experience consisted of a few monthsbraking. Frank Mertz, a farmer, had been emploved. S*;
