Appropriately called the Pink Palace, The Don Cesar is a splendid beach resort and spa that sprawls along a sandy shore of the Gulf of Mexico at St. Pete Beach on the west coast of Florida, USA. Celebrities and other members of high society flocked to the landmark lodging in the Tampa Bay area when it opened in 1928 during the Sunshine State's early boom years. Beginning in 1942 the grand hotel was used as a hospital and convalescent center for wounded World War II soldiers before falling into disrepair. New owners in 1973 restored the towered nine-story hoitel to its former glory.
