Lieutenant Colonel Chapman, along with 19 other former prisoners of war from different branches of the Armed Services, arrived in Hawaii from Clark Air Base in the Philippines as part of Operation Homecoming. They rested for an hour and a half at the MAC terminal lounge at Hickam before proceeding to Travis Air Force Base in California.
