Asserbo Ruin is located near Lake Arresø and the small town of Asserbo on norther Zealand, Denmark. Established in the 12th century by Bishop Absalon who invited French Carthusian munks to start the monastery. Since owned by an number of noblemen but abandoned in the end of the 18th century when the whole are sanded over. It was dug out in 1849 on the orders of King Frederick VII who dumped the sand into the moats, these were dug out in 1972 by the Danish National Museum
