It may be of interest to note how con-tinuous venting placed certain restric-tions upon the designing of many ofthese new waste fittings. It may be of interest to note how con-tinuous venting placed certain restric-tions upon the designing of many ofthese new waste fittings. In the firstplace, the continuous vent principle canbe applied only when a half S or P trap,or a running trap, is used. From the very principle of the con-tinuous vent, which we have shown in. the past several times, it cannot be ap-plied in the use of the full S or three-quarter S traps. This fact has put a re-striction on designing that has had tobe observed strictly. Thus, in Fig. i,the special waste and vent fitting i-made in the form of a double T-Y, andnot in the form of a double Y. If ithad been made in the latter form, itwould have violated the principle the continuous vent acts. Another point which may well be em-phasized is the fact that the employ-ment of the principle of the continuousvent in addition to its many other ad-vantages effects a great saving in laborand material. Such saving is shown inconnection with the work in Fig. 6, andit becomes more obvious when we com-pare such work with the work as ordin-arily constructed and shown in Fig. latter work, to accomplish the sameresults as Fig. 6, requires considerablymore stock and labor and when completeis not nearly as perfect a job as inFig. 6. In conclusion, we would say that thereis no questi
