In compiling the Directory of Physicians the author hasfelt it to be the safest course to confine himself strictly tothe lists of the state medical societies. A wider latitude inthis direction might perhaps have been decided on, and thenames of many reputable practitioners, vouched for as suchby their fellows, have been included.
