Turkey, Aphrodisias - Tetrapylon, western pediment, east end, decorative entablature


The Tetrapylon was a monumental double gateway at the entrance to the Temple of Aphrodite. It consisted of four rows of four columns and dates from the middle of the 2nd century. Its main access was from the east. The western pediment was decorated with relief figures of Erotes and Nike hunting among scrolls of acanthus leaves.
