The position of the boat at the time (9 August 22, 1921) was 55 88 1 1\ W. I have tothank the scientific staff for kindly submitting the specimento me for description. 1. Tin; Charai The specimen is the anterior end of a mature male ami measured longitudinally, prob< 580 ALEXANDER MEEK 7 mm., collar 5 mm., and the trunk, which was cut off atthe end of the genital region, about 50 mm. At the posteriorend the beginning of the region of the liver caeca wasfortunately included. The specimen, as Text-fig. 1 shows, was bent at right angles in the post-branchial region. The colour after preservation in spirits is brown, due aswill be seen to dark pigment-cells lodged internally to the Text-figs. 1, 2, and 3. probos mouth ventral pigment spots ventralmargin I gen. wing. ?proboscispore Fig. 1.—View from left side of anterior end. Fig. 2.—Ventral view of the anterior end of the trunk to display folds of oesophageal region which is limited on either side by the ventral genital 3.—Dorsal view of proboscis showing proboscis pore. longitudinal muscles of the body-wall. The proboscis isalmost white and the gonads yellow. The brown colourmarks the collar, on the trunk it differentiates the ventralbody-wall from the genital wings. The yellow-colouredgonads stand out prominently on the wings, and the browncolour which intervenes between them and the body-wall GLOSSOBALANUS MARGINATUS 581 helps to define them. Ventrally on the trunk the brownpigment is concentrated to form a paired series of dark spotswhich lie one on each side of the ventral median line. The proboscis is short and rounded, laterally compressedin front and expanded on each side near the collar. At thispoint it measures transversely
