Olfactory sensitivity of bees. Honey bees (Apis mellifera) in a laboratory being studied for their response to odours and other airborne chemicals. Honey bees are sensitive to the smell of flower nectar and pollen, but can be trained to to detect odours from other sources such as pollution, chemical explosives, and biological weapons. This work is being carried out by French researcher Minh-Ha Pham Delegue.
