As this colony, however, returned to Eng-land in a few months the first permanent settlement was that made bythe London Company in Virginia. 1 Some confusion has arisen in regard to these voyages. In the ship with Pring wentCaptain Hanam, or Hanham, some authors say as master, others as captain.
