A crystal and bronze chandelier dominates Prague's St. Nicholas Church on Parizska Street, Old Town.

Prague, Czech Republic: A magnificent crystal and bronze chandelier, weighing 1,400 kg and designed to resemble a czar's crown, dominates the rear portion of baroque St. Nicholas Church. It was presented to the church by Czar Nicholas. This is one of the oldest churches in Prague, parts of it dating from 1273. Although destroyed or secularly used at various times, today's church is the primarily the work of architect Kilián Ignác Dienzenhofer, who gave the church its Baroque look in the 1730s. From the Web: "The Church of St. Nicholas remains one of his (Dienzenhofer"s) best works and reminds a lot of his other masterpiece, the Cathedral of St. Nicholas in the Lesser Quarter. The Church was closed during the rule of Josef II and the expensive interior decorations were sold. The new “empty building” served as a granary for a while and then as a registry archive. Not until 1871, when it was used by the Russian Orthodox Church, was the church returned to its original purpose. The only noticeable “souvenir” from the orthodox era is the splendid crystal glass chandelier, made in Harrachov glass works in northern Bohemia."
