Its overall length is 38mm and wings span 43mm, Its wings and body are metallic green but is very weak flying showing a preference for well vegetated pools and ditches, particularly pools with species of reed, horsetail or sedge. It is widely distributed though local throughout Great Britain. It flies from early July to late August,
