Construction equipment and personnel with varied skill sets are required for gas pipeline construction in Texas's Barnett Shale
Under Northern Texas, a large natural gas field has been found. It is called the Barnett Shale and sits under one of the most populated areas of Texas. That area is called the DFW Metroplex. Dallas, Ft. Worth, and all of their tangent cities sit on top of a virtual gas shale layer. Safety is paramount in moving this natural gas energy. Testing the whole gas pipeline is a continuing process. Here a pipe section is removed to run a "pig" through the pipe. The "pig" , looks like a thread spool, and records data on the integrity of the line as it moves snugly through a run of pipe. The data collector is called a "pig" because it can be heard "squealing" as it brushes the insides of the pipeline.
