Settlers from the United States usually bring with themtheir Poland Chinas, Duroc Jersey and lard ti^De Berkshires, butin a few generations they find that their pigs have lost somewhattheir thick backs and heavy hams and have acquired a longerand deeper side to compensate for this loss of thickness of backand ham.
