Meitnerium (Mt). Diagram of the nuclear composition, electron configuration, chemical data, and valence (outer electron) orbitals of an atom of meitne

Meitnerium (Mt). Diagram of the nuclear composition, electron configuration, chemical data, and valence (outer electron) orbitals of an atom of meitnerium-276 (atomic number: 109), an isotope of this radioactive element. The nucleus consists of 109 protons (red) and 167 neutrons (orange). 109 electrons (white) successively occupy available electron shells (rings). Meitnerium, named after Lise Meitner and first synthesised in 1982, is a transactinide of unknown properties in group 9, period 7, and the d-block of the periodic table. Meitnerium-276 has a half-life of seconds.
