Since the war liis businessinterests have been varied, and for the first few years after its close he fol-lowed the life of-an agriculturist, while for a time thereafter he was engagedin the boot and shoe business. While a resident of Crawford county he waselected on the Republican ticket to the office of county clerk and registerof deeds, thus serving for six years, and during that time be also read lawunder the preceptorship of Judge J.
