In color, shape, quality, growth and productive- ness it seems identical with the Early Rose in best days; therefore early, fine quality, ana first-rate in all respects. COJJU3IBL1S. This potato is one of great value for home use or fancy market. Tubers very large, oblong, one end usually larger than the other, skin considerably russeted, lijiht fl sn color, splashed and streaked with bright pink, giving the tube*s a beautiful appearance; eyes plenty, compound, with a distinct brow, some prominent, others some depressed, indicative of great yield. Either baked or boiled, its quality is superb, second to none. The vines are ram- pant growers, with long roots, which make it what might be termed a BLIGHT and DROUTH PROOF potato. Its many excellent qualities have made it a very popular variety. At the R. N. Y. Exp. Sta., after the vines had been injured by a tornado, it yielded at the rate of 403% bu. per acre. UNCLE SAM. This is a very large yielding potato, and is destined to become one of the most popular varieties when better known. It will outyiela Rural N. Y. No. 2. It *is not only a heavy cropper but tubers are very large; quality fine, cooks white, dry and floury. Its color is white covered with russet, eyes shallow, making it in every way a desirable market po- tato. SIR WALTER RALEIGH. A seedling of the Rural N. Y. No. 2.
