The Town Mill, Lyme Regis. This is John Hanson who campaigned passionately for years to preserve it. The watermill on the river Lim dates from at least 1340. Today it has been restored, the work begun by John Hanson was completed in 2001 when a Victorian 13 ft iron waterwheel with wooden buckets was acquired from South Devon. This drives two sets of millstones grinding locally grown organic wheat. A hydro-electric turbine installed in 2006 generates electricity for the mill and supplies its surplus to the grid. 9 August 1996 Picture by Roger Bamber
