Remedies.—Powdered hellebore, which is so speedy andcertain a remedy in the case of the saw-flies, does not act withthe same promptitude in this instance. This larva seems tobe much hardier and more difficult to destroy with poisonoussubstances; hence, if hellebore is used, the liquid should bemade twice or three times the usual strength. Paris-green ismore certain and effectual where there is no objection to itsuse. Hand-picking
