The Hoba Meteorite is the largest known meteorite and likewise the largest known single mass of native iron known on earth. The meteorite is composed of about 84 iron and 16 nickel with traces of cobalt It is classified as a nickel rich ataxite. A crust of iron hydroxides is locally present on the surface owing to weathering. Visitors vandals break off bits as souvenirs so it s gradually shrinking.
