The ascending colon is cut off about four inches fromthe head of the cecum and both ends closed with interrupted silk sutures. Theproximal end of the ileum is now implanted into the ascending or transversecolon. An appendicostomy is now made and a retention catheter placedthrough the appendix into the cecum.
