Harry Nilsson sings on the album 'A Little Touch Of Schmillson In The Night' his best ever record.


Harry Nilsson was born into a poor New York family on the 15th June 1941. He got a job in computers in a bank by lying about being a high school student. By the time the bank found out he had proved so good they kept him on. His Uncle John taught him to sing properly. His first job was with singer Scott Turner from whom he got paid $5 a track, later on when Turner said he wanted to pay him more and re-release the tracks he said he'd already been paid. He establisherd good relations in the industry working with Phil Spector, His songs were recorded by Fred Astaire and others and still he went on working for the bank. Harry signed for RCA Victor and was heard by Derek Taylor in 1966. Taylor bought a box of his records to share among friends (The Beatles). When John was asked who his favorite American artist was in 1968 He answered 'Nilsson', when Paul was asked to name his favorite American Group he replied 'Nilsson'. He was disapponted the same question wasn't asked of either George or Ringo. His records included 'Pandemonium Shadow Show' Aerial Ballet' which included 'Midnight Cowboy', 'Harry' Which incuded 'I Guess The Lord Must Be in New York City', 'Nilsson sings Newman', 'The Point', 'Nilsson Schmillson' which included 'Without You', This was followed by 'Son of Schmillson'. This finally led to his best ever record 'A Little Touch of Schmillson In The Night' with Gordon Jenkins and a collection of golden oldies being produced by Derek Taylor. He refused to take the industry too seriously' he made numerous more records culminating in 'Knillssonn' 1977, he was profoundly affected by the death of John Lennon and died on the 15th Jan 1994. He had a wife Oonah and six kids.
