Augmentin antibiotic drug. Packet of 21 tablets of a 500/125mg ratio of the antibiotic drug Augmentin. The packet includes Braille labelling. Also known as co-amoxiclav, this is a combination drug containing amoxicillin (a penicillin antibiotic) and the beta-lactamase inhibitor clavulanic acid. It was developed in the 1970s by the British pharmaceutical company Beecham. This packet has been produced by GlaxoSmithKline. The combination of amoxicillin with clavulanic acid increases the spectrum of infections the drug can be used against, allowing this drug to be used against bacteria that are resistant to amoxicillin.
