The latter lived in the northern part of thetown, since set off to form a part of the town of Ashby, andit seems certain the town of Fitchburg was named for him, ashe was prominent in se-curing its 1748, Fitchburg re-ceived a visit from the In-dians and on the 5th otJuly, the garrison of JohnFitch was attacked bythem.
