Situated outside Forbury Gardens and Reading Crown Court is a bronze sculpture to remember Fred Potts VC.


Fred Potters was a trooper in the 1/1st Berkshire Yeomanry who came from Reading. He fought in World War 1 and as a result of his brave actions during the Gallipoli Campaign in which he saved a fellow soldier's life, was awarded the Victoria Cross. Fred Potts died in 1980 aged 89. The sculpture pictured was installed on the 2nd October 2015 to commemorate the man and his actions. It was designed by Liverpudlian sculptor Tom Murphy.
