The minimalist, empty expanse and salt crust detail of dry Lake Ballard, famous for Sir Antony Gormley's "Salt People".
The "Salt People" of Lake Ballard are 51 metal-alloy sculptures by Sir Antony Gormley titled "Inside Australia" that were produced for the Perth Biennale then left in situ scattered over 10sq km in the dry salt lake bed. The sculptures were made from scans taken of 51 residents of the nearest town, Menzies, in Western Australia's Goldfields Region, which is 51km from Lake Ballard.
