Sir Almroth Wright (1861-1947), British bacteriologist and developer of the anti- typhoid vaccine. Wright developed the first vaccine against typhoid fever whilst working in the army medical school. In 1902 he moved to St. Mary's Hospital in London where he remained as professor of pathology. He taught many gifted and famous pupils (including Alexander Fleming), and was knighted in 1906.
