Bridge north of Glinton near Peterborough UK where the poet John Clare used to meet Mary Joyce.

John Clare was born in 1793 in the village of Helpston north-west of Peterborough and attended the village school at Glinton just to the east where he met and fell in love with Mary Joyce. Her father, a wealthy farmer, forbade her to meet him. They used to meet by this bridge. But they never married and Mary Joyce remained a spinster and died a spinster and is buried in Glinton churchyard. Clare eventually married and had seven children but was dogged by health problems throughout his life.
