A bronze head of a seraph, middle byzantine, 9th - 11th century Head with well-ordered locks. Above this a crossed pair of wings in flight, at their centres an almond-shaped ornament (an eye?), the feathers finely wrought. Two further pairs of wings not preserved. The obverse and reverse are equally meticulously configured. A fragment with a liturgical purpose of surpassingly good quality. Dark brown patina with traces of gilding. Height cm.
