Aerial photograph of the Schluchhorn, Bernese Alps, Switzerland. When exposed to enormous pressure, thin layers of rock form markedly stronger folds than thick ones, as can be seen on the side of 2587 metre high Schluchhorn. Thick and thin grey limestone layers and the brownish marl are part of a huge northward declining fold, which is heavily eroded. In the background, there is a complete s-shaped fold in the flank of the neighbouring Spitzhorn.
