Brunswick Park, at Wood Green, is an example of what can bedone by faith and well-directed industry. Twenty-eight acres inextent, the greater part was—thirty-two years ago—pit mound, whereasto-day its stretches of turf, well grown shrubs and trees, winding pathsand beautiful flower-beds help to form one of the most charming spotsin the whole of the Black 25 RECREATIONS. PLACES OF WORSHIP. A similar Park—on a smaller scale—has been developing at KingsHill during the past eighteen years, and bids fair to attain to the samestandard of perfection as the Brunswick Park. Open spaces in other parts of the borough have been secured forthe recreation of the young people of the town. Sports and Pastimes. Wednesbury Football Charity Association, founded in 1880,arranges an annual Cup Competition, the proceeds of which are dividedamong the charitable institutions of the town. The Wednesbury Old Athletic Club is primarily an old-establishedfootball team, with a playing ground in Lloyd Street, and its head-quarters at the Crown and Cushion Inn, High Bullen. The Amateur Football Club play on the Oval, and have theirheadquarters at the Horse and Jockey Hotel, Wood Green. Wednesbury Cricket and Tennis Club have their headquartersat the Horse and Jockey Hotel, and their ground opposite thereto
