Local, Traditional Sardinian Cheeses Displayed on a Weekly Market Stall, Baia Sardinia, Gallura, Sardinia, Italy.
A display of fine traditional Sardinian cheeses for sale at a local market stall in Baia Sardinia. This market is held each Tuesday from 10:00 through the summer. This busy market attracts a variety of local and holiday visitors to look for traditional, locally produced food and gifts. At this market you are invited to taste a variety of the specialised foods for sale. Some Italian habits have found their way to Sardinia including smoked and spicy sausage which feature in the antipasto di terra or antipasto of the Earth. As an Island famous for its shepherds it is not surprising that exceptional cheeses are produced here. About 80% of Italy’s pecorino romano is made here. The traditional and popular ewe’s milk cheese is fiora sarda.
