This elevated view of Topkapi Palace was taken looking south from the Beyoglu district of the city. The Golden Horn (Altin Boynuz), an inlet of the Bosphorus, is in the foreground (the Bosphorus itself is just out of view to the left of the picture). The wooded area in front of the palace is Gulhane Park, formerly part of the palace gardens. The body of water behind Topkapi is the Sea of Marmara. The Princes' Islands (Kizil Adalar) of Kinaliada and Burgazada can be seen in the distance.
