Koege, Denmark. 5th September, 2014. The final findings of the Eastern gate (photo, foreground) was absolutely crucial for Nanna Holm, Chief Curator at the Danish Castle Center: “We had the Northern gate – but was it actually a Ring Castle? We were not sure. According to the strict geometry of the 4 other Ring Castles in Denmark, we calculated that if we projected the other castles geometry, then the eastern gate had to be exactly here. And it was! And now we are 100% sure that we have found a “new” Viking Ring Castle,” she says enthusiastically. Credit: OJPHOTOS/Alamy Live News
